The Navy and Coast Guard ships are trying to rescue merchant ship MV Infinity One, which reported water ingress and continuous listing to starboard, after receiving a distress call when it was 20 nautical miles off Goa coast last evening.

The merchant ship was sailing from Kandla port in Gujarat to Karwar in Karnataka last night when the incident took place.

After getting a distress call, the Indian Naval Ship (INS) Trikand immediately sent a four-member team to the assistance of the ship, carrying a high-speed de-watering pump.

MV Infinity One was then anchored and additional pumps were being readied for immediate delivery.

As per reports, the ship continues to list and is proceeding to Karwar at slow speeds.

Meanwhile, the development of the rescue is being monitored by all agencies.
