Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was on Tuesday sent back to the Adiala jail in Rawalpindi from Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) after his health condition stabilised.
The News International quoted sources saying that Sharif was sent back to the jail at his own insistence. Also, the three-time Pakistan prime minister was escorted by a convoy of 11 security vehicles.
Sources added that Sharif's health was declared satisfactory by the doctors at PIMS after thorough medical examination tests. Earlier in the day, medical practitioners at PIMS said Sharif's health was improving.
Sharif was shifted from Adiala Jail to PIMS' cardiac ward on the orders of the caretaker government on July 29. He was admitted to the PIMS' coronary care unit on doctor's advice after he complained of chest pain.
On July 13, Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz, who were convicted in the Avenfield reference case by the National Accountability Court, were sent to the Adiala jail.
