Naxal killed in cross-firing in Chhattisgarh

A Naxal was killed in Sukma's Fulbagdi area of Chhattisgarh on Monday morning in cross-firing with the District Reserve Guard (DRG).

The deceased Naxal has been identified as the Deputy Commander of a Naxal outfit, which carried several major attacks in the state in past.

A rifle, a pipe bomb, and a bag were recovered during the search operation conducted in the area where the cross-firing took place. One more Naxal is also suspected to be injured in the firing.

This comes ahead of the second phase of Assembly elections in the state scheduled to be held tomorrow.

72 constituencies spread over 19 districts will vote in this phase of the election. Voting will begin at 8 am and will continue till 5 pm.

 

Polling for the first phase was held on November 12 in 18 constituencies of the state.

The counting of votes will take place on December 11.
