Naxals set ablaze as many as six vehicles at a bauxite mine in Chhattisgarh's Balrampur district, near Jharkhand-Chhattisgarh border, the police said.

"North Sarguja of Chhattisgarh has already suffered because of the Naxals, but Naxalism had ended in the Balrampur district, as far as the last few years are concerned. This incident stands as an exception," the Balrampur Additional Superintendent of Police, while confirming the incident.

He further said that the information regarding the presence of Naxals has been reported in the area for few months, due to which the police have been conducting search operations.

"This sole incident stands to show that more needs to be done," he added.

According to the police, bauxite mines, two trucks, and pokland machines came under the siege of fire.

The police informed that three of the vehicles were from Balrampur and the remaining were from Jharkhand.

An investigation is underway.
