The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Sunday expressed its apprehension over Prime Minister Narendra Modi ordering 36 French-made Rafale fighter jets for the Indian Air Force, saying that only time will tell if it has been a good decision.

"There are lots of reports coming about this deal. Some say that it will not be beneficial for India, it is also being said that these aircrafts are old. Time will tell if buying these aircraft was the right decision. The agreements are between two nations, political parties running the government keep changing," NCP general secretary Tariq Anwar told ANI.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is presently on a two-day visit to France, had on Friday ordered 36 'ready-to-fly' French-made Rafale fighter jets.

The 36 Rafale jets are expected to be inducted into the Indian Air Force (IAF) within a span of two years.
