Accusing the Congress of politicizing the Pathankot airbase attack , the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday said that the NDA Government had inherited terrorism problems from the grand old party's five decade long regime.

BJP spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao further hit back at the Congress for criticising the government over the Pathankot terrorist attack and asked if they had 'national interest' in mind.

"The Congress has ruled this country for over five decades. The Congress party and their government, from which we inherited the problem of terror, today are criticising the government and politicizing terror. Does the Congress party have national interest in mind at all? Do they have any policy at all?" Rao told ANI.

"When Foreign Minister made a detailed statement about India-Pakistan bilateral relations on the floor of the house, they never paid any attention to it. They never allowed Parliament to function," he added.

Congress leader Pramod Tiwari earlier today attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making an unscheduled visit to Pakistan to meet his counterpart Nawaz Sharif and said that the latter trusted 'those on the other side of the border' more than his ministers.

"Looks like the Prime Minister trusts those on the other side of the border more than us even when they have betrayed us again and again," he told ANI.

Sharif had called up Prime Minister Modi yesterday and assured that their government was working on the leads and information provided by the Indian Government on the Pathankot attack, adding that they would investigate the matter.

He also appreciated New Delhi for showing maturity in its statements post the terror attack on the Pathankot Airbase while asserting that terrorists were trying to disrupt the efforts to bring peace between the two countries.

The operation against the terrorists at the air base entered its fifth day today as security forces continue to carry out combing operations to smoke out any remaining terrorist.
