"A very important thing we had included in the Land Acquisition Bill. We had introduced that whenever the land of a farmer is being acquired, one must seek his permission. Now, the land will be taken

without your permission, there will be no social audit," Gandhi said at a public meeting here.

"The UPA Government had always helped farmers whenever they were in need. The land rates that have increased and will increase in the future, and will be of no use to you," he added.

The Congress vice-president began his 15-kilometre long 'kisaan padyatra' earlier in the day in the Adilabad district of Telangana, where he met the families of the farmers who have committed suicide.
