To check and review the preparedness of states along the East Coast of India to meet a tsunami threat, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) conducted tsunami mock exercises on Saturday in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and West Bengal.

The NDRF was designated as the lead agency to conduct the mock drill and Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), Hyderabad was given the responsibility to conduct a preparatory workshop on the tsunami exercise to be followed by similar preparatory workshop at the state level.
The preparatory workshop was conducted by INCOIS in which NDRF officials and disaster management officials from designated states participated.
The mock exercise was conducted in nine places in Andhra Pradesh, six places in Odisha, one in Puducherry, one in Tamil Nadu and three in West Bengal.
