NEC Corporation has announced that it was appointed by PT AEON Mall Sinar Mas Land (AMSL) Indonesia to provide video analytics surveillance and infrastructure systems for AEON MALL Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) city at Tangerang.
PT AMSL is a specialist shopping mall developer while NEC is a leading info-communications technology provider.
PT AMSL is a joint-venture company between PT AEON MALL Indonesia and Sinar Mas Land.
Sinar Mas Land is a well-known property developer in Southeast Asia with experience of more than 40 years in property development in Indonesia, while AEON MALL is the largest shopping mall developer and operator in Japan.
AEON MALL BSD city is the company's first project in Indonesia, which is spread over 100,000 square meters of leased area. It is also one of the biggest shopping malls in BSD CITY.
The suburban mall will have a wide range of tenants with AEON General Merchandising Store being the main one. It will also have various tenants offering daily merchandise, and food and beverage outlets along with other services such as fashion, sporting goods, music, hobby, amusement centre and cinemas.

The mall will be spread across four stories with a multilevel parking having a capacity to accommodate more than 5,000 vehicles.
NEC will be installing systems such as CCTV systems, people counting systems, facial recognition video analytics and IP telephony infrastructure systems. NEC's people counting technology employs sensors to track the number of people entering and exiting mall entrances and designated areas.
The feature will be utilised to understand customer movements better, which will enhance mall's safety and security.
NEC's innovative facial recognition technology will be used to analyse facial images and classify them into gender and age groupings for visitor profiling. This in turn will help them to provide better services and improve customer engagement.
NEC will also be providing the IP communications servers to support complete telephone network and communication needs of the management at the mall.

NEC will also be providing the cashless payment systems for the mall's food court, which consists of retail terminals and software that will enable cashless transactions for both food court customers and stallholders.
