Taking to the streets of South Mumbai on April 24 were high spirited Mumbaikars who in unison rode for the Mpower Movement, an initiative by Neerja and Ananya Birla to help spread awareness about the importance of mental health. A total number of 500 participants, both professional and recreational riders, were seen supporting the cause through their first drive - 'Ride to Mpower'.
The route started from Nariman Point (opposite NCPA) to the Worli Sea Face via Pedder Road and back, which covered almost 30 km. The riders congregated to begin their journey through Sobo.
Their mission was to try and inspire as many minds as possible to initiate conversations about mental health conditions, with their families and friends.
Flagging off the event was Neerja Birla herself and Ananya Birla at the forefront leading the Mpower cyclist's team, who were all sporting Mpower bibs to promote the movement.
The energy levels and enthusiasm of everyone was phenomenal and bystanders were seen cheering the team as they cycled through the city.
Speaking about the event, Neerja Birla said, "It is extremely gratifying to see the city come together to bring about significant change in the community. I hope that through Ride to Mpower we were able to awaken the minds of people towards mental health and advocate this positive message.
