Neil Diamond has recently revealed that the fact behind the song 'Sweet Caroline,' widely believed that it was about the young daughter of late president John F. Kennedy, Caroline, was only partly true.

The 73-year-old artist revealed that he was writing a song in Memphis, Tennessee, for which he needed a three-syllable name, and it was about his wife at the time, whose name was Marsha, but he couldn't get a "Marsha" rhyme so added Caroline instead, the CNN reported.

The song has since become a staple track, and in 2013 Diamond announced that he would donate the royalties to One Fund Boston to help those affected by the Boston Marathon bombing.
