Neil Gaiman's book 'The Ocean At The End Of The Lane' has been voted as the Book of the Year by the Specsavers National Book Awards.

The bestseller is a modern-day fairy tale about a man returning to his childhood home for a funeral, the Guardian reported.

The 53-year-old writer claimed that he had never written a book before that was so close to his own heart and wasn't sure that anyone else would like it.

Gaiman said that he was amazed and thrilled that so many people have read the book, loved it, and made their friends read it too.
