Former President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela's grandson Nkozi Mandela, came down heavily on United States President Donald Trump for his tweet on "large-scale killing of farmers" in South Africa.

"President Donald Trump's unfortunate tweet shows disrespect for South Africa's sovereignty and our commitment to justice and redress. Trump once again demonstrates a total ignorance of reality. We will not be dictated to, threatened or pressured into accepting a land deal that perpetuates the injustices of the past," The Hill quoted Nkozi as saying to Time magazine.

Mandela further said that Trump should focus on the domestic challenges in his own country.

Trump had earlier tweeted about "farm seizures and expropriations and the large-scale killing of farmers" in South Africa and asked Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to have a closer look into the matter.

"I have asked Secretary of State @SecPompeo to closely study the South Africa land and farm seizures and expropriations and the large-scale killing of farmers. South African Government is now seizing land from white farmers," the tweet read.

The South African Government had also dismissed the comments made by Trump and took to social media to refute his claims. It further accused Trump of attempting to divide the nation.
