Former South African President Nelson Mandela is under intensive care at his home, as doctors have warned that difficult days lie ahead for him medically.
The South African Presidency said Mandela's condition was critical and "at times unstable," News24 reports.
The government has announced that Mandela's home has been reconfigured to ensure that he receives the appropriate and prescribed treatment. A large medical team from the military, academia, private sector and other public health spheres will be on attendance round-the-clock.
Mandela had been on life support for the past three months at a hospital in Pretoria.
Earlier, he was diagnosed as suffering from a lung infection, but it might have been pneumonia, the report added.
Some members of Mandela's family had allegedly filed court documents in June claiming that he was in a permanent vegetative state and that doctors had recommended that his life support machine be turned off.

However, later doctors rejected the suggestion, saying such a decision was not required unless there was multiple-organ failure.
Doctors said that even his condition has not improved, but he has been shifted to his Johannesburg home to make him more comfortable.
