The 23-member Indian Under-14 girls' football team has returned safely to the country from earthquake hit Nepal.
Eighteen players and five support staff members had gone to Kathmandu to take part in an Asian Football Confederation regional tournament.
They landed at the Delhi airport at around 5:45 p.m. on Sunday in IAF Aircraft C-17. They were among 237 persons who had boarded the aircraft from Kathmandu.
The players were practicing at the Dasarath Stadium in Kathmandu for the third-place play-off against Iran when the earthquake shook the venue and adjoining areas on Saturday.
Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj had earlier on Sunday said that the evacuation of the team from Nepal was a major priority.
The scared girls and two support staff had decided to sleep outside their rooms at Hotel View Bhrikuti in the Nepalese capital, Kathmandu over fear of further aftershocks.
