Nepal Foreign Minister calls on PM Modi

Nepal Foreign Minister Mahendra Bahadur Pandey on Monday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the former's visit to the national capital.

Upon meeting Prime Minister Modi, Pandey handed the letter of invitation Nepal Prime Minister Sushil Koirala for the 18th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Summit, which is scheduled to be held in Kathmandu on 26-27 November.

Reiterating that he attached the highest level of priority to relations with SAARC countries, Prime Minister Modi said he looked forward to participating in his first SAARC Summit. Committing India's full support to the SAARC process, he also expressed his strong belief that member countries had much to learn from each other's experiences and strengths.

 

The Prime Minister also conveyed his gratitude to Nepal for the warmth and affection, as well as the extraordinary hospitality, which he received during his visit to that nation earlier this year. He welcomed the progress in key areas of bilateral relations since the visit. He also expressed hope for early completion drafting process of Nepal's Constitution.

In August this year, Prime Minister Modi had visited Nepal, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to visit that nation in 17 years.
