Nepal Quake: Special prayers held in Varanasi for people's safety

Special Prayers were held in Varanasi on Sunday for the safety of people affected by the massive earthquake that hit Nepal twice.

Fresh tremors were felt across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Assam after an earthquake of 6.7 magnitude hit east of Kathmandu today.

Meanwhile, the death toll due to the massive earthquake, with a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter Scale, which hit Nepal yesterday has reached 1,900, while over 5000 have been reported to be injured.

The Indian Government has sent four NDRF teams to Nepal and is planning to deploy three more to aid rescue operations in the country.

 

Meanwhile, NDRF teams have been deputed across all the affected states in India. A 24-hour control room for queries regarding the tragedy has also been set up.

The impact of the earthquake was felt in almost all northern states in India particularly in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Sikkim and West Bengal.
