Nepali Congress, CPN-Maoist Centre begin preparations to form new govt

Nepali Congress and Communist Party of Nepal- Maoist Centre (CPN-MC), who are in a bid to form a coalition government, began preparations to draft a common minimum programme for the new government on Wednesday.

According to CPN-MC Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal's secretariat, top leaders of the parties including Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Dahal held a meeting this morning and discussed contemporary political issues including preparations for the new government, reports the Himalayan Times.

During the meeting it was also decided to hold talks with other political parties to form a national consensus government.

The two parties also decided that they extend support to the Local Body Reconstruction Commission to make the restructuring of local bodies more scientific and effective in consultation with major political forces of the nation.
