A new book by Fidel Castro's former bodyguard Juan Reinaldo Sanchez has revealed that he lived like a king in Cuba.
According to the book, the former president of Cuba lived like a king with his own private yacht, a luxury Caribbean island getaway complete with dolphins and a turtle farm, and traveled with two personal blood donors, the Guardian reported.
The member of Castro's elite inner circle has also revealed that the Cuban leader ran the country as his personal fiefdom like a cross between a medieval overlord and Louis XV.
The book, La Vie Cachee de Fidel Castro (Fidel Castro's Hidden Life) claims that the Cuban communist revolutionary was a charismatic and intelligent but manipulative, cold-blooded, egocentric Castro prone to foot-stamping temper tantrums.
Sanchez, who was part of Castro's praetorian guard for 17 years, has claimed that contrary to the sacrifices he demanded of Cubans, Castro never renounced capitalist comforts or chosen to live in austerity.
