New Delhi seeks greater US co-operation to avert corporate frauds

New Delhi is looking forward for greater exchange of information and a regulatory cooperation with Washington to safeguard the interest of foreign investors and avert corporate frauds.

Corporate Affairs Minister, Sachin Pilot said in New York India will also engage with companies, universities and other institutions in United States to enhance such cooperation in various areas.

This, he said, will not only boost bilateral ties but also help in building a stronger mechanism to check corporate frauds . Mr. Pilot held meetings with a number of top US officials of the Federal Trade Commissioner to boost bilateral trade ties and foreign investment.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State John Kerry is arriving in New Delhi this afternoon to hold fourth round Indo- US strategic dialogues. The dialogues will be held tomorrow. Bilateral trade, defence and security cooperation are high on the agenda of talks.

Cooperation in energy and higher education will figure prominently in his discussions with Indian leaders. India is expected to seek from the US information on the opening of a Taliban office in Qatar besides putting across its concerns on issuance of visa particularly in the IT sector.

The issue of market access, nuclear liability bill and American National Security Agency's internet snooping programme may also figure in the discussions.

The visiting dignitary will also meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
