A day after a woman was found dead in her house in New Jersey, her mother alleged that extra marital affair of his son-in-law could be the reason of the murder of her daughter.

"We suspect that they have been murdered following an affair of my son-in-law with another woman there," the deceased's mother said.

The woman and her six-year-old son from Andhra Pradesh were found dead in their New Jersey home on Thursday.

According to sources, when Narra Hanumanth Rao reached home after work, he found his wife Shashikala and son Aneesh murdered in their apartment.

Rao works in CTS and has been living in New Jersey for nine years. An investigation is underway.

The incident comes at a time when there has been a recent surge of hate crimes against Indians in the U.S.

Earlier this month, a Sikh man was shot and wounded in Washington State by an attacker who approached him in his driveway and told him to leave the country.
