MIT researchers have reportedly developed an algorithm that can predict how popular one's Instagram photo will be.
Aditya Khosla, a PhD candidate at MIT's prestigious Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab crunched through 2.3 million Flickr photos in order to isolate the factors that make a photo popular, The Verge reports.
Khosla claims that his algorithm can forecast the number of views a photo is likely to get, even before it is uploaded online.
Social factors including the number followers a person has, count of tags on the photo and the length of title is considered by the algorithm before reaching a plausible conclusion.
The algorithm also measures content factors such as texture, color, gradient, and objects present in the photo, the report adds.
