A new law has proposed that porn stars in California may now be forced to wear eye gear and condoms for many scenes.
New rules proposed by the state's Division of Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHA) would require adult film actors to wear goggles, however, the rules have yet to be finalized, the Independent reported.
Diane Duke, CEO of the Free Speech Coalition, a trade association for the adult entertainment industry, said that these were regulations designed for medical settings, and were unworkable on an adult film set or even a Hollywood film set.
Duke added that the rules would stigmatize performers and risk shutting down an entire industry.
The proposed rules are largely the work of one man i.e. Michael Weinstein, president of AIDS Healthcare Foundation as he has attacked the porn industry for what he calls dangerously poor testing procedures and its refusal to use condoms.
Porn companies and actors beg to differ and ahs said that the new rules were ridiculous and if condoms and dental dams dampen the fantasy of adult films, then wearing goggles will drown it once and for all.
