A 15-year-old has developed a sensor that can be attached to a foot or a sock of an Alzheimer's patients, revolutionizing care.
The sensor developed by Kenneth Shinozuka of New York City, who has won 50,000 dollars Scientific American Science in Action Award, which is part of the Google Science Fair, notifies caregivers via their smartphones if a patient who should be sleeping gets out of bed.
Shinozuka was inspired by his grandfather and designed the sensor to keep him safe and to provide much needed relief to his aunt, the primary caregiver.
