The upcoming Star Wars film/s will not be recognizing the Expanded Universe, which includes a plethora of comics, novels and videogames based on the original trilogy, as canon, Lucasfilm has announced.

Lucasfilm, in a statement published on Starwars.com, said creator George Lucas has 'always made it clear that he was not beholden to the EU, Metro.co.uk reported.

The statement further read that Lucas set the films he created as canon and this includes the six Star Wars episodes, and 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars.'

This means that 'Episode 7,' and any other spin-offs would be based solely on the six films and the 'Clone Wars' TV show.
