Newcastle United has recorded their sixth win in eight games with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace away at Selhurst Park on Saturday, and kept in pace with the Premier League's leading pack.
Newcastle is sitting just six points behind the league leaders while bottom-three placed side Palace will now travel to Aston Villa and also face a daunting trip to Manchester City over the Christmas period.
According to the BBC, the visitors took the lead through Yohan Cabaye, whose deflected shot from close range beat Crystal goalkeeper Julian Speroni 25 minutes after start, after which Newcastle doubled their advantage when their defender Danny Gabbidon inadvertently turned in Mathieu Debuchy's low cross.
Hatem Ben Arfa completed the win when he smashed home from the spot after Crystal's Jonathan Parr had fouled the visitors' Shola Ameobi, the report added.
