American football legend Joe Namath has revealed that he is suffering from brain damage, which, he believes, was the result of concussions he suffered during his years on the field.

The NFL legend's admission comes after a growing number of players have said they have suffered long term from concussions sustained in the game following which, the NFL settled a lawsuit with more than 4,500 former players for 914 million dollars.

According to Newsmax, the former New York Jets and University of Alabama star said that after having tests on his brain, he found out that he has atleast five concussions that he thought were serious, although he added that he is improving after having some treatment.

Stating that the human body is not designed for football, Namath however, said that the hits were part of the sport and he would not change anything, adding that every football team tries to knock the player who is handling the ball out of the game.

Namath, who suffered multiple knee injuries over his career, also said that he had always felt lucky and blessed as other people have had more serious problems than he has gone through.
