NGO Charkha celebrating its 22nd Founder's Day today

The Charkha Development Communication Network, an NGO working to connect the issues of the rural marginalised communities to the media, is celebrating its 22nd Founder's Day today at the Indian Social Institute here.

The highlight of the event will be a panel discussion titled "Our planet is warming up: how can rural communities cope?" On the panel will be prominent social activists and media persons - Bharat Dogra, Himanshu Thakkar, Nagraj Adve, Sushma Iyengar and Vimlendu Jha.

Charkha is driven by its mandate to highlight development concerns of rural communities through the media to reach policy makers so these concerns inform the decision-making process.

 

Charkha runs a tri-lingual in Hindi, English and Urdu that places articles on grassroots development issues in the media.

This finds wide acceptance in the national and regional media across the three languages.

The day marks the birth anniversary of Charkha's Founder, Sanjoy Ghose and offers an occasion for all those connected with its vision and work to meet and interact.
