The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of a media report that due to shortage of wheel chairs or trolleys in the General Hospital in Bahadurgarh, a woman delivered a baby at the entrance of the Hospital before she could be taken inside.

The Commission has observed that the contents of the news report, if true, raise a serious issue of violation of human rights of mother and the newborn.

The hospital being a Government hospital, should have enough wheel chairs or trolleys to carry the patients. Accordingly, a notice has been issued to the Chief Secretary, Government of Haryana calling for a report within four weeks.

Allegedly, the attendants shuffled around the hospital premises to find a wheelchair. This is a common sight at the Government Hospital in Bahadurgarh.
