NIA chief meets Assam CM Gogoi, discusses Bodo massacre

The Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Sharad Kumar, has met with Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi at his official residence here, and reportedly sought further information on possible leads that led to the massacre of civilians by Bodo militants recently in the state's Kokrajhar and Sonitpur Districts.

Kumar was also briefed on the incident by senior state government and police officials, including the chief secretary and the director-general of police among others.

He will visit Kokrajhar and Sonitpur Districts today.

Kumar has been tasked with the responsibility of probing the progress made so far in four cases being investigated by the NIA.

 

Police have registered 119 cases following the massacre where 81 persons lost their lives.

Security forces have so far arrested seven Bodo militants who were directly involved in the massacre.
