At least nine persons were killed and six others injured on Tuesday when a roadways bus caught fire in Peeparpur area of Amethi District in Uttar Pradesh.
The bus was headed towards to Sultanpur when it caught fire due to a short circuit in the engine.
Police said 42 passengers were on board at the time of the incident.
Some of the passengers managed to escape by smashing the window panes of the bus.
The process of identifying the victims is reportedly still on.
The injured are being treated in a hospital in Sultanpur.
