Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Brinda Karat on Sunday took on the BJP-led NDA Government over its concern with regard to the Nirbhaya documentary, saying such an incident would not have taken place had the Centre been a little bit concerned about safety of women in the country.
"The government should be ashamed that they are now concerned about India's image," Karat told ANI here.
"The language used by the rapist is being criticized by the whole world. It is this kind of language that creates the rape culture and we hear it everywhere," she added.
According to reports, the BBC documentary, depicting the aftermath of the brutal gang-rape and murder of Nirbhaya in 2012, will have its US premiere next week.
