The Supreme Court on Monday upheld the conviction of three convicts Vikas Yadav, Vishal Yadav and Sukhdev Pehalwan in connection with the 2002 Nitish Katara murder case.
The apex court also issued a notice to the Uttar Pradesh Police over their jail sentences.
Nitish Katara's mother Neelam expressed her delight with the verdict, saying it is a very big day.
"It is a huge relief because for 13 and half years what I have been saying and many other people have been saying that stand has been vindicated and the highest court of the country has upheld the conviction," she said.
Vikas and Vishal Yadav are undergoing 25 years imprisonment for murder, while Pehalwan had been sentenced to 20 years.
Nitish Katara, a business executive, was abducted from a marriage party in Ghaziabad on the intervening night of February 16-17, 2002, and was later killed by the Yadav brothers.
