The Supreme Court on Friday rejected the plea of Nitish Katara's mother for conferring the death sentence on his murderers.

The apex court also held that Katara's murder wasn't an honour killing.

"I was surprised that the apex court said it wasn't an honour killing. I am bit surprised on that, we will submit the evidences once again with more facts next time," Neelam Katara, the mother of deceased, told ANI after the apex court gave its verdict.

"This is no more a fight of Nitish Katara. It is now a fight against honour killing and honour crimes," she added.

Neelam also added that she expected the apex court to pass an order against honour killing, but it didn't happen.

"I am disappointed but this fight would against honour killing would continue," she added.

The Supreme Court has already upheld the conviction of Vikas and his cousin brother Vishal for the murder of Nitish Katara.

However, it is yet to conclude arguments on the quantum of sentence. The Delhi high court had awarded 30 years imprisonment to Vikas and Vishal.
