Former Bihar chief minister and Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar on Tuesday took a jibe at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for failing to make a clean sweep in Jharkhand.

"The full results are yet to come but the trends seem to indicate that the BJP is getting less than what it had hoped," Kumar told mediapersons here.

"We never had an effective alliance or a perfect alliance....The votes were scattered this time but despite that the BJP failed to manage a clean sweep in Jharkhand. So, this is not a situation where one can boast of," he added.

As per latest reports, the BJP is leading in Jharkhand with 40 seats. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), which is the BJP's closest competitor, is leading in 19 seats.

The Congress and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) are leading in eight and seven seats respectively.
