Ridiculing Bihar Government's order on alcohol consumption, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushil Kumar Modi on Saturday said it is a joke of alcohol ban, adding that nothing can be more hilarious than this.

"This is a joke of alcohol ban. Nothing can be more hilarious than this. He is unable to stop people from consuming alcohol in his own state and is setting up the rule of banning Bihar officials from drinking outside the state or country. How will he know if they are drinking outside?" Sushil Kumar told ANI.

Scoffing at the latest rule and dubbing it impractical, Sushil Kumar said after this even the films and shows showing scenes of alcohol consumption should be banned.

"Now, form another law which bans all the films showing alcohol-related scenes in Bihar. They are forming such laws which can neither be implemented nor are practical.Such laws should be made which can be implemented. And why is this law not made on MLAs. He (Nitish) only wants discussion to go an alcohol. There is no work on development being done," he said.

Meanwhile, contrary to Sushil Kumar's opinion, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav extended his support towards the state government, saying it is for everyone's good.

"Complete alcohol ban is for everybody, be it an officer or citizen. People suffer from health problem such as kidney and liver failure. People also indulge in violence under alcohol influence. Those who are in habit of drinking alcohol, they should drink milk," said Lalu.

"The law is being properly implemented. Everything takes time," he added.

The Bihar Government on Thursday set a new rule stating that Bihar officials cannot drink alcohol outside the state or country.

The rule applies to every person appointed to a civil service or post in connection with the affairs of the state of Bihar.

The officials failing to abide it will either face dismissal, suspension or salary cuts as a form of punishment.
