Former Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar today said prices of essential commodities would see a further rise in the country, even as the Janata Dal (United) party held a protest against the hike in petrol and diesel prices.
Nitish Kumar told reporters, "I am not surprised that the prices have been increasing. They will keep on increasing. Those who thought that price rise would be checked by the new government, they must be disappointed."
His party members also carried out a protest against the fuel price hike in Patna. A protester told ANI, "We are opposing the Narendra Modi government's move to raise the prices of petrol and diesel which has been done at the behest of corporate. This will plunge the nation into further inflation and therefore we stand opposed to it."
Petrol and diesel prices were hiked on Monday by Rs 1.69 and Rs. 0.50 per litre respectively while onion prices have continued to surge upwards.
