The Nitish Kumar-led government won the trust vote in the Bihar Assembly on Wednesday with 140 votes.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a walkout during the trust vote.
Bihar Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi had earlier asked Nitish to prove majority on the floor of the House after he took over as the Chief Minister following Jitan Ram Manjhi's resignation.
The Janata Dal (United) had earlier issued whip to its MLAs to vote in favour of confidence vote presented by the government.
