McLaren ace Jenson Button has told Lewis Hamilton that his side Mercedes has no chance of beating Sebastian Vettel's Red Bull in the Formula One's championship this season.

Mercedes has enjoyed a resurgence, with Hamilton taking pole for Sunday's German Grand Prix race while his teammate Nico Rosberg has won two of the last three races, The Sun reports.

However, Button, who knows Hamilton's team inside out from when it was in its previous guise, Brawn GP, with whom he won the world title in 2009, said that it cannot match Red Bull's pace in the long-run, adding that he does not think that Red Bull has a challenger at the moment.

Button, who qualified for the German GP in ninth place, also said that Red Bull was the car to beat at Silverstone at the British Grand Prix, adding that looking at Mark Webber's performance at the end of the race, Red Bull has a strong chance at the event.

Stating that Vettel would have won in Britain had he managed to finish the race despite Mercedes winning tow races, Button further said that Vettel is a very talented driver, who has won three championships, adding that he has a skill of reading situations along with being a speedster.

Although Button admitted that Vettel is not the only talented driver in F1, he said that the German still got the job done despite not winning even though he has been in the right place at the right time.
