The Maharashtra Legislative Council has passed a no-confidence motion by the Nationalist Congress Party against its chairman Shivajirao Deshmukh.
According to reports, the NCP, which is the largest party in the council, proposed the no-confidence motion to prop its own member as the chairman.
The voting, which took place on Monday, saw a reported 45 of 78 members agree to the motion, with the Bharatiya Janata Party also supporting the NCP, while 22 members opposed it.
