Responding to the cancellation of India-Pakistan dialogue, the Congress Party on Sunday said that there was no logic in holding NSA-level talks between the two nations until Islamabad took forward the trial of the Mumbai terror accused to a satisfactory conclusion.

"There was no justification or logic in India agreeing to these talks and departing from a stated position that until Pakistan takes forward the trial of the Mumbai terror accused to a satisfactory conclusion, no purpose will be served by the NSA-level talks," Congress leader Anand Sharma told ANI.

"We have been asking the ministers what were understandings reached in Ufa? What were the guarantees given, which convinced the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make this departure and accept the talks?" he added.

Sharma pointed out that India came across as very eager to host the talks and Pakistan being reluctant.

"We should have read the signs clearly and the intent of the Pakistani establishment," he said.
