ANI New Delhi

Intense heat wave conditions continue to sweep various parts of the country, with reports stating that the death toll due to the sweltering conditions has now crossed the 500 mark.

While Delhi will continue to reel under the scorching heat wave condition in the coming days, neighbouring Uttar Pradesh is also witnessing temperatures near the 42 degrees Celsius mark at most places.

Yesterday, the maximum temperature in Delhi was 43.5 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal while Bamrauli in Allahabad sizzled at 47.7 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, 19 towns recorded temperatures of above 40 degrees Celsius yesterday in Odisha.

The maximum temperatures in Himachal Pradesh have also been steadily rising during the past few days.

The heat wave is also affecting normal life as people prefer to remain indoors and avoid venturing out in the sun.

In Telangana, hospitals reported a heavy rush of patients with symptoms of sunstroke even as the state government kept emergency medical teams at standby in all districts. Officials issued warnings to people to not venture out during the day without guarding themselves against the sweltering heat.
