The Mumbai Police on Thursday refuted reports of criminal threats in or across Mumbai and of intercepting a terror attack in the city.

The Commissioner of the Mumbai Police, D.D. Padsalgikar, said, "Many queries are being made about threats and alerts that have come to Mumbai, but I can assure you that we have not received any specific threat about the city at the moment."

He further assured that Mumbai Police is capable of handling all such threats and can take care of them.

"It is the routine nature of the Crime Branch to call some of the criminal elements with criminal records for enquiry. The Crime Branch enquiries are in progress about certain other issues that took place earlier," Padsalgikar said.

According to reports, the Mumbai Police earlier had notified the Central Government of suspecting a terror attack here and had alerted the security forces.
