The Nobel Foundation has revealed the winning design of the new building that will house the world's most prestigious prize.

This is first time in the prize's 114-year history that a building, expected to be completed in 2018 with a 110 million dollar budget, will provide a base for awards ceremonies and house a museum, the Guardian reported.

The foundation's executive director Lars Heikensten announced that the winner of the architecture competition of the Nobel Centre was David Chipperfield in Berlin.

Chipperfield said that the building, with a bronze, stone and glass facade, will have a certain classical simplicity and solidity.

The Nobel Centre will also consist of a library, several conference rooms and educational space for school visits.
