A Delhi court on Thursday acquitted nine persons accused of gang-raping an MBA student of Amity University due to lack of evidence.

Earlier in November 2016, the Delhi High Court acquitted two accused in the case for lack of evidence.

The girl was gang-raped by 11 men in January, 2009, when she was returning from the Great India Place Mall in Noida with her friend.

The victim's friend had alleged that they were returning home from the GIP mall and 11 bikers forced him to stop his car, got into it and drove it around near urban Noida village Garhi Chaukhandi and then raped the girl.

The girl, who shifted to London after the incident, had told the court that she left India as the accused persons were threatening her.

Earlier, the Supreme Court ordered to shift the trial of the case from a Noida court to Delhi on the plea of victim's friend.
