Nokia has revealed that it is returning to mobile phones business.

Nokia had sold its devices and services business to Microsoft last year.

Rajeev Suri, Nokia's CEO says that the firm is looking at a return to the mobile phone business. Suri also says that they will look for suitable partners to release the devices.

Suri further says that Microsoft makes mobile phones. Nokia would simply design them and then make the brand name available to license.

According to the Verge, Nokia is currently restricted from using its brand on phones until Q4, 2016. The company plans to simply license its name out rather than build the phones itself. Nokia did the same for its N1 tablet that runs Android.

Nokia will partner with a manufacturer and simply brand the phone hardware. It is a strategy that is identical to Polaroid and Nokia has promised it will license its brand where appropriate on a number of devices in the future.
