Several flights and trains were delayed on Tuesday morning as the entire North India reeled under the dense blanket of fog.
The Northern Railway said 78 trains coming to the national capital were delayed while 20 trains departing from Delhi were rescheduled.
Road traffic in the national capital was also severely affected on Tuesday morning due to fog.
"Driving becomes very difficult in this fog, the chances of accident are high because we can't see anything on the road. It is only when the indicators are blinking that we can see from a distance that a vehicle is there," said a resident of Delhi.
Temperatures in many parts of Jammu and Kashmir went below the freezing point, while cities like Ludhiana in the plains were colder than Shimla.
Ludhiana saw a cold and foggy morning today with visibility dropping to less than 100 meters.
Even Amritsar and Patiala in Punjab saw minimum temperatures reaching 4.1 and 3.4 degrees respectively.
