The Chief Minister of Sri Lanka's Northern Province, C.V. Wigneswaran, has accused the country's central government of being unwilling to help the Tamilian minority.
Media reports quoted Wigneswaran, as saying that this unwillingness on the part of the government has been "characteristic" of what has been going on in Sri Lanka for years.
He said there was a need for international pressure to be put on the government, and added that the central government in Sri Lanka would only do something for the minorities if it was focused.
The Sri Lankan Army continues to control the "fertile lands" in the Northern Province and the land released by it was "infertile", he claimed.
