Putting to rest the speculation of growing closeness between the PDP and Congress, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Monday said that there was nothing political about the meeting between party president Sonia Gandhi and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti.
"There nothing political in it (Sonia Gandhi meeting Mehbooba). Mufti Mohammed Sayeed was a Congress party leader earlier, he was also a Congress minister. He had a long association with the Congress Party," Azad told ANI.

"It is for Mehbooba Mufti ji and PDP to decide when the government in Jammu and Kashmir will be formed," he added.
Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh had earlier rubbished rumours of the PDP setting tough conditions for the BJP if they want to continue the alliance in the state.
The PDP's reaction came a day after Congress president Sonia Gandhi met party chief Mehbooba at her Fairview residence in Srinagar. Congress leaders Ambika Soni and Ghulam Nabi Azad were also present in the meeting, which lasted for around 20 minutes.
Following Mehbooba Mufti's refusal to be sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir at present, Governor's Rule has been imposed in the state.
