Tardeo Road Transport Office (RTO) on Monday issued notice to Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC) over red beacon atop Mumbai Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar's official car.
The Central Government banned red beacons atop cars of all ministers, politicians and bureaucrats from May 1 this year to end the V.I.P. (very important person) culture prevalent in India.
The government had, however, exempted five dignitaries including- President, Vice President, Prime Minister, Chief Justice of India and the Lok Sabha Speaker from the ban.
The ambulances and vehicles of the fire service, police, and army are also allowed to use blue flashing beacons to cut through traffic.
